Periodontal services

Some people think of the gums and teeth as being two distinct and separate body parts. This is not completely false, but as far as dental hygiene goes, it’s completely wrong. Your gum health is very important to the appearance and integrity of your teeth. In fact, failing to get periodontal help when you need it can lead to teeth falling out or becoming infected. Yikes!

That’s why it’s important to regularly see a periodontist: a doctor that specializes in the inflammatory diseases that affect, damage and even destroy the soft tissues in the mouth.

What Periodontal Problems Are There?

The “best” problem you can have is simple gingivitis; an inflammation of the gums that tends to need little treatment, and leave little damage. Gingivitis is common and easily recognized - so long as you see a dentist as soon as possible, it should be easy to get the help you need.

On the other end of the spectrum are disorders and illnesses like periodontitis: a severe infection that damages the soft tissue in your mouth, to the point that it can destroy gums and erode the bones in your jaw. Needless to say, periodontitis is dangerous to treat - and can quickly progress beyond the point of no return.

For that reason, it’s important to see a dentist whenever you so much as suspect you’re in need of periodontal services.

What Happens if I Don’t See A Dentist On Time?

If you have a periodontal disease that you leave untreated, you risk seeing your gums become so diseased and inflamed that they can no longer hold your teeth adequately. Should this happen, you will be at risk of losing your teeth permanently. With other diseases, your soft tissue may be damaged to the point that it needs restorative surgery before it can be used for implants.

Either way, prevention of periodontal diseases is the best medicine - so if you’re not 100% sure whether your gums are healthy or not, call us at (770) 277-5588 today for a free consultation and quote!

Our Happy Customers

"I had a wonderful experience here at Reach Dental! Everyone was so nice and helpful. I was actually a bit nervous because I had not been to the dentist regularly within the last two years or so. Tania explained everything she did step by step and what I need to do once I leave to maintain until I come back. I will definitely be coming back every 6 months or as often as they recommend!"
